WHO Eases SARS Ban

The World Health Organization has lifted its travel warning to Hong Kong and China's southern Guangdong province, saying the Sars virus there was now under control. The WHO issued its alerts to two of the world's hotspots for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) on 2 April. Guangdong is believed to be where the disease first surfaced. Hong Kong on Friday recorded its 20th consecutive day on which the number of new SARS cases have been in single figures. Two more people in the territory are reported to have died from the virus and two others to have been infected.
