DEPUTY PM: MEDIA EXAGGERATE ECONOMY`S BAD STATE

`The economy growth will be about 5% this year, i.e. it will not fall below the promised one,` Nikolay Vassilev, Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister said. He commented media allegations that GDP is likely to fall twice below the 2002 forecast. `The figure 6.5% was set up by the previous government,` he reminded. `The forecasts on the trade balance and the balance of payments are bad, rendering the preservation of the macroeconomic stability as the government`s first priority,` Vassilev added.
