High Turnout Reported in Nigeria's Landmark Presidential Election

Turnout is reported high in Nigeria's landmark presidential election, the first such poll organized by a civilian government in 20 years. Thousands of police officers are guarding voting precincts to prevent fraud and violence. Early results are expected Sunday. Tensions and fears of violence ran high in the past week after opposition groups accused the People's Democratic Party of President Olusegun Obasanjo of rigging last week's parliamentary election. At least 12 people died in clashes before that election.
