One of Europe's biggest multiplex cinemas "Arena" was officially opened Thursday in downtown Sofia.

Since Friday cinema fans already have the opportunity to enjoy the latest movie hits in the new cinema complex every day from 10 am till midnight.

This is the second multiplex cinema in the capital after the first one was opened last year in the subway of the National Palace of Culture.

The Cinema Arena complex contains 15 halls with a total of 3024 seats. The biggest hall in the five-floor building has the capacity to accommodate 490 persons, the smallest contains 40 seats.

The complex covers an area of some 16,500 square meters, including a parking lot for 400 cars, which may be used free of charge.

A huge Internet club is expected to open its doors by the beginning of July.

At the beginning of July Deutsche Welle reported that Export-Import Bank of the United States is to act as a guarantee of the loan to Washington-based Somerset Investment Company, which will equip a new cinema complex.
