Belgium Softens War Crimes Law

Belgium has restricted the scope of a controversial law that allows foreign leaders to be tried in Belgian courts for war crimes and crimes against humanity. In future a senior prosecutor will have to approve cases which are based on events outside Belgium. The amendment will also be applied retrospectively to a string of cases which are already being filed against high-profile foreign figures.
