Dozens Jumped out Hijacked Cuban Airliner Rear Door in Havana

Two dozen people jumped out the rear door of a Cuban airliner held at Havana airport after it was hijacked from Cuba's small Isle of Youth to the United States late Monday, AFP reported. The plane has been forced to land in Havana because of insufficient fuel. The group was taken away by bus after escaping the Soviet-made plane. ccording to local information some 46 passengers and crew were aboard the Soviet-made AN-24 plane. The man, who hijacked the plane, claimed to be armed with two grenades. The Cuban authorities, for their part, will undertake the maximum effort to find a solution that preserves the safety and lives of passengers and crew members, government statement released early Tuesday reads.
