Bulgarians Miss Chances For Medals in Biathlon

Pavlina Philipova missed her chance for a medal in the World Cup Championship in Russia. After four misses she ranked 15th in the women's 10 km Pursuit in Khanty-Mansiysk. She was fifth until the final run when she made three mistakes and missed the bronze. The gold medals were for Martina Glagow from Germany and Sandrine Bailly from France who finished with equal times.

Former Olympic champion Ekaterina Dafovska, who led the sprint standings, missed two targets on Saturday and was 29th. On Sunday she finished 25-th with four missed targets and is fourth for the moment in the World Cup championship with 603 points.

Ekaterina Dafovska is quickly losing ground in the standings as Germany's Martina Glagow becomes the leader for the moment with 691 points with Sylvie Becaert from France second with 662 points and Albina Akhatova from Russia third with 634 points.

Other Bulgarians rank as follows - Irina Nikulchina 17th with 5 missed targets and Iva Karagyozova 41st with three missed targets.
