Bulgaria: Former Ambassador: Regional Security in the Balkans is Not Threatened pixabay.com

Mass protests have covered the Balkans. What is the cause of the people's dissatisfaction in Albania, Serbia and Montenegro, and is there any chance the stability of the Balkans to be threatened, Albania and Kosovo's former ambassador to Bulgaria Bobby Bobev commented in the morning block of the Bulgarian National Television.

According to Bobby Bobev, the protests in Serbia and Albania are not linked to each other.

Bobby Bobev, a former ambassador to Albania and Kosovo: The situation in Albania has  sharpened in recent weeks. Political opposition is a very characteristic feature of Albanian domestic political life.

Bobby Bobev said after a protest in Albania on February 16, a decision was taken to drop parliamentary mandates. Accusations against a government in corruption are also not new, Bobev added.

Bobby Bobev, Former Ambassador to Albania and Kosovo: Albania's President is a popular figure in his country. He was Minister of Culture and I had meetings and contacts with him. He was also a mayor of Tirana. He became a member of the Socialist Party in 2005, and a month later, and chairman of the party because of his popularity.

According to Bobev in Albania, there is also a political consensus on the integration process. Here the sharpness of the protests is something typical, the question is  whether the opposition will force the government to withdraw and to schedule new elections, he added.

The former ambassador commented that protests against Serbian President Alexander Vucic were triggered by accusations of authoritarian methods of government, blocked media freedom, and a dysfunctional judiciary. According to Bobev, the Serbian president has more support and will probably deal with protesters.
