Turkey Postpones Vote on Military Bases

Turkey has further postponed a crucial vote on opening its military bases to U.S. troops for a possible war in Iraq. But Foreign Minister Yasar Yakis signalled an agreement could still be reached on a multi-billion dollar U.S. aid package in return for the use of the facilities. Earlier US Secretary of State Colin Powell said he expected to hear from Turkey by the end of the day on deal amounting to USD 6 billion in grants and guarantees for USD 20 billion in loans.
