Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will be on an official visit to Bulgaria on March 4-5 at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov, the government information service announced on Monday.
The visit will begin a day after Bulgaria's National Holiday - March 3rd.
The visit also takes place against the backdrop of the revelations of secret Russian agents in Bulgaria, which are related to the poisoning of the arms businessman Emilian Gebrev. British authorities are studying a connection with the poisoning of former Russian intelligence officer Sergei Scripal and his daughter Julia in the English city of Salisbury. The liaison unit is an agent of the Russian military intelligence GRU, nicknamed Fedotov, who was in Bulgaria in 2015 when he was poisoned by Gebreb, and in Britain in the attempt to murder Scripal.
The ceremony for the official reception of Medvedev by Boyko Borisov will be at St. Alexander Nevski Square in Sofia. Then the Russian Prime Minister is scheduled to offer a wreath at the Unknown Soldier's Monument.
The two prime ministers will have a tet-a-tet conversation in the Council of Ministers building, which will be followed by a plenary meeting of the two delegations.
Expectations are one of the main topics of the conversation to be the supply of blue fuel for the Balkan gas hub. The two prime ministers have already discussed this issue last October.
The government press release states that the main topics to be discussed between the Bulgarian and the Russian side are related to the cooperation in the energy, economy and tourism.
On Tuesday - March 5, Boyko Borisov and Dmitry Medvedev will open a Bulgarian-Russian business forum in the field of tourism.
