The participation of our country in the World Expo 2020 exhibition in Dubai will enable Bulgarian producers and exporters to realize their production on international markets. This was stated by the Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov, at a meeting with HE. Rim Al Hashimi, State Secretary for International Cooperation and EXPO 2020 General Director. The Minister of Economy signed a contract for Bulgaria's participation in EXPO 2020 with Mr. Nadijeb al-Ali, Executive Director of the Dubai Expo next year.
"We have chosen to develop the Bulgarian stand and a holistic image within the Mobility subtopic in which we believe that Bulgaria is currently best suited to our strategic geographic position in terms of transport corridors, access to markets and cultural influences, and the endorsement in recent years of Bulgaria as a country with high technological capacity, "the Minister of Economy said after signing the contract. Mrs. Reim Al-Hashimi welcomed the Bulgarian delegation, expressing gratitude for Bulgaria's confirmed participation in EXPO 2020. She stressed that the exhibition provides a very good opportunity to popularize the participating countries, given the expected visitor interest.
Minister Karanikolov is on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he also visited the national stand of Bulgaria at the GULFOOD 2019 Specialized International Food Fair, which is held at the Dubai World Trade Center. The Executive Agency for Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (BSMEPA) at the Ministry of Economy organizes a stand where over 30 Bulgarian exhibiting companies present a wide range of food products and beverages - dairy and meat products, frozen fruits and vegetables, fruit and vegetable cans, sugar and confectionery, organic products and others. "We are working actively to promote Bulgarian exports to third countries. Proof of this is our support for those food-exporting companies that participate in GULFOOD 2019, the Minister of Economy pointed out. Karanikolov said that the participation of Bulgarian companies in fairs and exhibitions is an opportunity for the countries in the region to get acquainted with the quality Bulgarian products and to expand the range of goods exported to the Emirates.
During his official visit to the UAE, the Minister of Economy and Finance held a meeting with HE. Sultan bin Saed Al Mansuri, Minister of the Economy. At the meeting both sides expressed their satisfaction with the intensification of the Bulgarian-emirate relations in recent years. "We are convinced that there are prerequisites for developing mutually beneficial cooperation in a number of promising and important areas for mutual trade, investment, tourism and agriculture," said Karanikolov.
