Canada's power company Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) declared willingness to build a nuclear facility in Bulgaria employing a new technology that uses spent nuclear fuel.

This transpired during the second day of Energy Minister Kovachev's visit to Canada.

Minister Kovachev visited Nuclear Power plant Chalk River, which houses the Canada's company research base. The spent fuel of two reactors of the type in Kozloduy N-plant, combined with enriched uranium, can feed one CANDU-reactor.

EDC, a provider of financing, insurance and bonding services to Canadian exporters, is ready to finance the venture.
