Experts investigating the break-up of the space shuttle Columbia have extended their search for debris and crew remains across the western United States. While the search continues in Texas and neighbouring Louisiana, Nasa officials say it will also be extended west to California. President George W Bush is to attend a massive service to all seven Columbia astronauts at the Johnson Space Center in Houston on Tuesday. He promised that the US exploration of space would continue, despite the loss of the shuttle.
