65 people have been sentenced to life imprisonment in Turkey because of the failed coup attempt of July 2016, local media reported.

The verdicts are in two cases - the blockade of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge over the Bosphorus, and an incident in a military post in Istanbul. More than 130 people were faced with the indictment of "violating and attempting to change constitutional order" in Turkey. 77 of the accused were acquitted.

Turkey continues to be in a state of emergency, which was declared after the attempted coup and has been held back several times. More than 50,000 people were jailed on charges of a failed coup attempt, and about 150,000 were removed from work.
