Bulgaria Wins First-ever Figure Skating Medal at Malmo

Bulgaria's Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviyski took the silver medal European Figure Skating championship at Malmo, Sweden. They achieved this with a free dance to Middle Eastern rhythms.

This is the first-ever medal Bulgaria wins in figure skating.

Russia's Irina Lobacheva and Ilia Averbukh finally won the European Figure Skating ice dancing titles after years of near misses. The husband and wife team, who have been bronze medallists on three occasions and fourth twice, secured the gold with a rock and roll medley in the free dance held Friday at Malmo, Sweden.

The bronze went to Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov from Russia.
