At least seven skiers, most believed to be Americans, were killed, and at least one injured Monday after an avalanche roared down a glacier in western Canada's Rocky Mountains, officials said. A wall of snow buried a 20-person wilderness skiing party of tourists and professional guides at about 10:30 a.m. PST (1 p.m. EST) on Durrand Glacier near the town of Revelstoke in southeastern British Columbia, said Selkirk Mountain Experience, the company operating the tour. "There were seven people confirmed who have died in the avalanche," according to the company, which declined to release names or hometowns of the victims until their families could be notified.
