Hingis, who has maintained her No. 1 world ranking despite not winning a Grand Slam since the 1999 Australian Open, could not keep up with Williams`s hard-hitting game. The loss stretched her slump to 11 Grand Slams since she last won one of the major tournaments. She is 0-6 against top 10 players this year.
