Bulgarian Maleeva's Run at Australia Open Ended

Bulgaria's best tennis player Magdalena Maleeva was stopped in her run at the Australian Open by Russian Elena Bovina. In the third round of the Grand Slam tournament on Satiurday, the Bulgarian who was seeded 11th in the scheme, was overpowered 7/5, 4/6, 7/5 by Bovina who advances to encounter No. 25 Meghann Shaughnessy. At the third round, the top-seeded Serena Williams won her 24th consecutive Grand Slam match Saturday, overpowering Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the fourth round of the Australian Open. Serena now has an eye on fourth-seeded Kim Clijsters of Belgium, a possible semifinal opponent.
