Bulgaria: KEVR: Price Increase of Water in Sofia Cannot Be Less Than 18% BGNES

The increase in the price of water in Sofia cannot be less than 18%, while the price change will probably come into effect as of March 1, said in an interview the member of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (KEVR) Dimitar Kochkov.

On February 3, the regulator is expected to discuss the report on the price change at an open meeting.

KEVR is not actually offering such a price increase, but rather a decrease, compared to the initial price increase (32%) proposed by Sofiyska voda. The arguments are that their proposals have been reviewed several times and some of the price-forming elements have been reduced. What could have been reduced by us has been reduced,” added Kochkov.

Kochkov remineded that the investment programme of the enterprise has been approved by the Sofia Municipal Council and “nothing can be altered there”.

The enterprise promised to reduce water losses from the current 53% to 38.72 % by 2021. This will happen via approved investments for the period of BGN 194 M.
