Hristo Ivanov, the former Justice Minister, was elected Saturday as chairman of newly-founded Yes, Bulgaria party.

Ivanov, who stepped down in December 25 amid a deadlock of his divisive reform to the judiciary, vowed to work for the "anti-corruption cause" in the long-term.

At the founding assembly of Yes, Bulgaria, he argued the country needed to "re-found" the prosecuting authority, to reform the Interior Ministry and security services and to "purge" the intelligence community.

"We have to break the system" that "the Bulgarian oligarchy" prepares to reinstate by making sure that the current "corruption model" lasts, news website Dnevnik.bg quotes Ivanov as saying in a 30-minute speech.

The party will pursue three main goals, namely "to ensure the rule of law and efficient and accessible justice; to accelerate the pace of growth of the country; and the fight against systemic poverty and for raising the standards of living," Ivanov added.

What gathered party founders, who were said to include intellectuals, entrepreneurs, artists and many others, was "intolerance" to corruption, poverty and lack of perspetives, he added.

Yes, Bulgaria, to which polls in December gave just 1% of voter support, intends on running in the early election that is due in March or April.

Other political parties, like liberal DEOS, have already revealed plans to join forces in the vote.
