Bulgaria's government has granted BGN 10 M in additional funding to address the consequences of an explosion which killed seven people and destroyed dozens of houses in Hitrino village on Saturday.

Half of the sum is earmarked for social programs within the Labour and Social Policy Ministry's budget, at the request of Hitrino municipality, the cabinet press office says after an emergency meeting. ]

Another BGN 5 M will be spent on rebuilding municipal property and infrastructure.

Central budget expenditure will be overhauled to secure the funding.

Outgoing Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov has said that twenty-six buildings were left uninhabitable after the blast.

It will take BGN 1.5 M to restore the infrastructure according to prelminary estimates, he has added.
