The death toll of Saturday's train explosion in the Bulgarian village of Hitrino has increased to 8, outgoing Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has said.

The body of an 18-year-old adolescent, a resident of another nearby village, was found under the railway station's debris late on Saturday evening.

Earlier during that day, a number of tanks transporting propylene and liquefied petroleum gas derailed from a cargo train, one of them exploding near the station, in the center of the village. Seven people were initially reported dead and twenty-nine injuries.

As of this moment, no search and rescue operations are being carried anymore. More than a dozen people were pulled out of the rubble alive.

Hitrino is still under evacuation as specialized teams are working to drain the gases out of cisterns that did not explode and to contain the unexpected gas leakage announced on Sunday morning.

Construction businesses will later help rebuild the dozens of houses razed down by the powerful blast, Focus News Agency quotes Borisov as saying.

However, he has also warned it may take days to secure the area.

Throughout the period of up to ten days, locals will be allowed into their property to feed their livestock and then leave again.
