Voting has begun in Macedonia, in an election postponed twice this year and seen as a way of the political crisis.

Conservative VMRO-DPMNE of Nikola Gruevski, which has dominated Macedonian politics for a decade, and opposition SDSM of Zoran Zaev, are expected to win the biggest share of the vote.

As many as 1.784 million million people are eligible to cast ballots. Of these 1.531 million will vote on Macedonian territory.

Polls open at 07:00 and close at 19:00. Diaspora Macedonians are voting according to local time.

Eleven parties and five coalitions are running for seats.

On Saturday, several groups of people, including disabled ones, were entitled to vote.

Sunday's snap vote is the fourth one being held ahead of schedule for the past eight years.
