Since the beginning of the year until November 20, 962 illegal migrants have been sent to the borders of Bulgaria, waiting to be returned to their countries, announced the press centre of the Ministry of Interior (MVR) on November 22.

Most of the illegal migrants came to Bulgaria from Iraq - 315. Another 206 migrants came from Afghanistan, 85 from Syria and 84 from Iran.

Last week alone, such administrative measures were applied against 51 illegal migrants from third countries.

The first flight to Kabul returning illegal residents in Bulgaria to Afghanistan is scheduled to take place in mid-December. The flight is organised by Bulgarian authorities and co-financed by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency.
