Turkish President Recep Erdogan has called on NATO to cooperate with Ankara in combating terrorism, reported BNT.
NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly is taking place in Istanbul. Erdogan stated that Turkey represents a barrier between terrorist organisations and the rest of the world, mostly Europe.
“Let us fortify this barrier instead of weakening it,” said Erdogan who has a meeting with NATO’s Secretary General Stoltenberg on Monday.
According to a sociological survey, cited by the Turkish Akşam newspaper, 64% of Turkish people say “no” to the European Union.
