Bulgaria: Number of Migrants Entering Bulgaria Increases BGNES

The number of foreigners attempting to enter Bulgaria and detained by the authorities is increasing again, marking growth of 72% last week – from 32 to 55 people. Most of them were detained at the Bulgarian-Turkish border.

Altogether, however, according to Ministry of Interior data, the number of detained migrants has not increased drastically. By comparison, last week a total of 312 people were detained, compared to 277 the week before.

Most migrants were detained in the interior of the country – over 100 people.

The number of migrants who have left the refugees centres is greater than the number of people admitted.

Refugee centres continue to be overfilled. Last week, refugee or humanitarian status was granted to 70 people, while the applications filed number over 300.
