Bulgaria: Berlin: Germany Will Protect Turkish Citizens Persecuted by Erdogan BGNES

Germany will protect Turkish citizens who are persecuted politically by the government of Recep Erdogan after the failed coup attempt in July.

“The opponents in Turkey must know that the German government expresses it solidarity,” stated Minister of State Michel Roth.

Germany is open to people who are being politically persecuted and they can seek asylum in Germany. We are not talking about journalists only.”

On Friday, Berlin summoned the Turkish ambassador after more than 10 deputies of the Democratic Peoples’ Party were arrested.

Germany’s Foreign Ministry stated explicitly that Ankara should not use repression against terror as an excuse to silence the opposition.
