Bulgaria: Opposition Candidate Given Edge in Bulgaria Presidential Runoff - Poll

Socialist-backed candidate Rumen Radev is likely to garner more support from voters in the upcoming second round of Bulgaria's presidential election, a survey shows.

Radev, who won the biggest share of support in the first round on November 06, is the candidate potentially preferred by 39.8% as a choice in the runoff as of Sunday, November 06, the day of the first round.

Tsetska Tsacheva, the candidate supported by the main ruling party and its coalition partner, the Reformist Bloc (RB), one of its parties excluded, lags behind with suport at 28.6%, according to the poll conducted by Gallup International Balkan and commissioned by private NOVA TV.

The newly introduced "protest vote", the so-called "I Do Not Support Anyone" option, gains 17.1%, according to poll data.

Some 11.3% of respondents have said they will not vote, while 3.7% have refused to answer.

The figures come as Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has indicated he will resign if Tsacheva loses.

Asked about the need of a snap parliamentary vote - one that may be triggered by a resignation - 37% of respondents have said "Yes", while 43% have replied with a "No".
