Lawmakers have agreed to open every session of Bulgaria's Parliament with the national anthem.

The proposal was initially made by the Patriotic Front, the nationalist coalition backing Bulgaria's minority cabinet, but also gathered support among MPs from other parties.

It has been unanimously backed by the 77 MPs present during the vote.

Listening to the national anthem will help lawmakers show their commitment to "symbols, to their service and to their homeland" and "set a personal example", the PF's co-chair, Valeri Simeonov, is quoted by Focus News Agency as saying.

The political leadership also has to care for the "education of the nation".
