The EU Commission demands clarity on the allegations against Yancho Yanchev, the head of Bulgaria's fisheries agency EAFA who was detained earlier this week.

The commission has not yet been officially informed on the case, Enrico Brivio, Commission Spokesperson for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, has told the Bulgarian National Radio.

EAFA was the manager of EU funding absorption under the EU's operational program for development of the fisheries sector in 2007-2013, the previous period.

Yanchev was arrested amid a probe into the alleged misuse of EU funding. He was dismissed a day later.
