Bulgaria: Turkey's Cavusoglu: Ground Operation in Iraq Is Possible If Turkey Is Threatened BGNES

Ankara may undertake a ground operation in Iraq in order to deal with any threats against Turkey, stated Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, reported BNR.

If there is a threat against Turkey, we will use all available resources, including a ground operation, in order to remove this threat, pointed out Cavusoglu when answering a question regarding the probability of a land operation on the part of Turkey from the Bashiqa base in northern Iraq.

“This is our natural right,” added the minister.

Turkey claims that it is threatened by the presence in northern Iraq of the Islamic State and rebels from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

PKK is defined as a terrorist organisation by Ankara, the EU and the USA.
