Bulgaria: 200 Nations Agree on Greenhouse Gases Reduction BGNES

Nearly 200 nations have accepted a deal for the reduction of greenhouse gases used in refrigerators and air-conditioners, reported Reuters.

The agreement which includes the two largest economies in the world – the USA and China, divides the countries in three groups with different deadlines with an end purpose of reducing the use of HFC gases which can be 10,000 times more powerful than carbon dioxide in terms of greenhouse gases.

“This is a monumental step forward,” stated US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Under the agreement, developed countries, including a large part of Europe and the USA, undertake the obligation to reduce the use of gases in stages, starting with a 10% reduction until 2019 and reaching 85% by 2036.
