Bulgaria: Slovakian PM Fico: Asylum Seekers Quotas Are Politically Exhausted BGNES

The quotas for the distribution of asylum seekers among the member-states of the EU are “politically exhausted”, stated Slovakian PM Robert Fico on Monday.

The former communist states in Eastern Europe strongly opposed the policy for dealing with the migrant crisis adopted a year ago, according to which all EU countries must receive thousands of asylum seekers.

Slovakia and Hungary challenged the quota principle in the European Court of Justice.

“Today, the quotas are clearly dividing the EU. This why I think they are politically exhausted,” said Fico.
