The European Union is launching a project for the distribution of debit cards to refugees in Turkey to the amount of EUR 348 M, reported BNR.
The project is part of the agreement between the EU and Turkey for stopping the migrant flow towards Europe. It is considered to be the biggest humanitarian aid programme financed by the EU.
The project will be launched on Monday by the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides.
Under the project, around 1 million migrants living outside the refugee camps will receive debit cards. The cards will be reloaded be every month. The money is intended for food, accommodation and other needs of the refugees.
