Bulgaria: Non-Schengen EU Members to Meet in Warsaw

Representatives of EU member states that are not part of the Schengen borderless area are set to meet in Polish capital Warsaw on Monday, local media report, citing the Polish Press Agency (PAP).

The meeting will bring together officials from Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania with several countries that are part of the area.

The latter category will be represented by Poland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. Non-EU member Switzerland will also send a delegate, PAP reports according to Focus News Agency.

Bulgaria said Schengen was not that important to it earlier this year, after pushing for years to join the area without border control.

However, statements from Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov coincided with the remarks of Hungary's Foreign Minister who gave indications Budapest would not necessarily support a Schengen entry of the Southeastern European nation.
