Bulgaria: Garbage From UK, Italy Floods Varna BGNES

Within 17 days, two ships have docked with 12,000 tonnes of garbage at the Varna port and another one with 5,000 tonnes is arriving through the Bosphorus, reported 168 chasa.

After thousands of tonnes of garbage have been flooding Varna with garbage from the UK, Naples and Palermo over the last 12 months, now more ships are bringing garbage from Sicily. The docking of ships is in accordance with various agreements with plants in Bulgaria for the destruction of the garbage.

The cargo ship Blue Star I, which flies the Panamanian flag, carries 5,000 tonnes of garbage and is on its way to Varna. The garbage from Sicily is to be burnt at a cement plant in Plovdiv, reported La Stampa.
