Bulgaria: Bulgaria Carries Out Pre-Emptive Training Against Hacker Attacks During Elections BGNES

A considerable part of the preparation for the upcoming elections is focused on counteracting possible hacker attacks like the ones in 2015, which blocked the sites of several institutions, including the Central Election Commission.

“Not only do we have a reaction plan for all possible situations but we are carrying out pre-emptive training against hacker attacks. I cannot promise that we are totally invulnerable but we are better prepared than ever,” stated for Mediapool Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev.

Donchev assured that all institutions concerned are working on not allowing a breach of security. “On the basis of previous experience, this time the organisation is better. It is not that previous attacks have made us question the election process. There were difficulties in communication between the election administration and other units in the field. This time, we will not permit this to happen,” added Donchev.
