The Bulgarian cabinet has announced it is proposing for parliamentary ratification amendments to a 2010 agreement with Serbia that allows cooperation between border police forces of the two countries.
Under the changes, the joint patrols along the common border will be allowed to cross into the other country's territory even if they are moving outside the areas of the respective border crossings.
The areas specified for "free movement" will be named every month.

In July, Belgrade gave the green light to the creation of joint army and police units that would guard the border, against the backdrop of increasing concerns Hungary and other countries along the migrant route will increasingly hinder access to new arrivals.
