Winter Tourism: 1.8 Million Visit Bulgaria
Bulgaria has witnessed a bustling winter tourism season, with a total of 1.8 million tourists gracing its picturesque landscapes from December 1 to March 25
Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov has lashed out at a newly-elected Russian lawmaker over comments he made as Russians were going to the polls on Sunday.
He has also called on Moscow to "find a way to distance itself" from his statement, but has noted that, while such an action would be "appreciated", ignoring the MP's opinion would mean the person in question should not be paid attention at all.
Pyotr Tolstoy told the Bulgarian National Television that his country would "buy the entire Bulgaria" just as it had already bought "half of its coast". His comment did not prompt any reaction from the reporter.
"The opinion voiced by newly-elected Russian MP Tolstoy [a lawmaker candidate at the time] is arrogant, categorically wrong and in no way contributes to the development of bilateral relations," Mitov has written on Facebook.
"I believe it doesn't coincide with the official Russian position and in this sense I do not consider it necessary to comment on it."
"Bulgaria is not for sale and will never be!" he has noted in the end.
Tolstoy's remarks sparked outrage from some Bulgarians, with a number of social media users seeing it as an act of aggression.
