Bulgaria: 2,000 Traffic-Related Accidents at Pedestrian Crossings BGNES

There have been over 2,000 traffic-related accidents at pedestrian crossings in the three largest cities – Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna in the period January, 2013-June, 2016, showed data presented by the Interior Ministry.

In 2013, two pedestrians died in traffic-related accidents at pedestrian crossings and 120 were injured. The number of accidents was 631. These decreased to 554 in 2014 but 7 people died and 157 were injured. In 2015, the number of accidents was 409, four people died and 102 were injured.

By the middle of 2016, there have been 197 accidents, no people have died and 62 have been injured.
