Ex Sofia District Governor Indicted
Prosecutors have filed the indictment of former Sofia District Governor Veselin Penev with charges of abeyance with the Sofia City Court.
The government has dismissed Veselin Penev as Sofia District Governor. The position will be taken over temporarily by Zhivka Takeva – Parvanova. She is currently Deputy Sofia District Governor. She will occupy the post until a permanent Governor is appointed.
The reason for the change is the controversial Tsarski Konyushni deal revealed by BSP. Penev tendered his resignation on Friday after a conversation with Prime Minister Borissov. Borissov referred the deal to the Prosecutor’s Office.
In the Tsarski konyushni deal, the Sofia District Governor sold the state share of the co-owner of the property – a firm of Yanko Ivanov, former Governor of KTB, for merely BGN 658,000.
