Bulgaria’s Ivet Lalova – Collio finished 8th in the Olympic athletics women's 200 m final in Rio de Janeiro on Thursday.

The Bulgarian sprinter ran in 22.69 seconds.

Elaine Thompson (Jamaica) took gold, crossing the finish line in a world leading time of 21.78.

World champion Dafne Schippers (The Netherlands) came second in 21.88 seconds. Tori Bowie (USA) won the bronze medal, running in 22.15.

Thursday’s Olympic 200m final in Rio 2016 was Lalova’s second after the 2004 Olympics in Athens in which she finished in the 5th place. She also finished fourth in the 100m final in Athens 2004.
