Bulgaria: Serbian Parliament Approves PM Vucic’s New Government Serbian Prime Minister designate Aleksandar Vucic addresses the parliament in Belgrade, Serbia, 09 August 2016.

Serbia’s parliament endorsed the new government proposed by Prime Minister designate Aleksandar Vucic, Tanjug reported on Thursday.

The new cabinet was elected in a 163-62 vote with no abstentions in the 250-seat parliament, the Serbian news agency said.

The composition of the new government is largely the same as the previous one, with Vucic, a centre-right politician, renewing the coalition of his Serbian Progressive Party with the Socialists and keeping former World Bank economist Dusan Vujovic as finance minister.

The confirmation of Vujovic in the job “signals a continuity in economic policy”, Reuters noted in its coverage of the news.

Vucic won a snap election in April, pledging to pursue Serbia’s integration into the EU while maintaining close ties with Russia.

Ivica Dacic, a Socialist,  remains foreign minister. Nebojsa Stefanovic keeps the interior minister’s portfolio.

In a marathon session that started on Wednesday, Vucic told parliament that the new cabinet will focus on “growth and prosperity after the previous one had to focus on stabilizing public finances,” according to Bloomberg.
