A Red Index warning has been issued by the national weather service of Bulgaria in 15 of the country's 28 regions for Tuesday, August 09.

These include Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Targovishte, Razgrad, Silistra, Shumen, Dobrich, Varna, Burgas, Sliven, Yambol, Haskovo, Kardzhali, and Stara Zagora, according to the website of the National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).

Under a Red Index, wildfires can spread quickly and result difficult to put out.

Hundreds of fires have raged across Bulgaria in the past week, amid a peak of a heat wave in the country.
