Bulgaria's Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova and her Serbian counterpart Neboj?a Stefanovi? are set to meet on Sunday afternoon to discuss the situation at the common border and check security measures there.

The development follows accusations from Serbia that Bulgaria lacks proper border controls, letting thousands of migrants cross into Serbian land.

Belgrade also approved the creation of joint army and police patrols to be deployed along the borders with Bulgaria and Macedonia.

Since then, Bulgarian authorities have been reporting an increased number of detentions of migrants crossing or leaving the country.
