An Emirates flight from the Indian city of Trivandrum crash-landed at Dubai International Airport, the airline annouinced on Wednesday.

“We can confirm that there are no fatalities among our passengers and crew. All passengers and crew are accounted for and safe,” the airline said on its website.

There were 282 passengers and 18 crew on board Flight EK521, the Emirates added.

Footage posted on social media channels showed smoke billowing from the Boeing 777-300 aircraft on the tarmac.

The reasons for the crash-landing, which the Emirates described as “an accident”, were not immediately known.

Flights were halted until further notice at Dubai airport - the busiest in the Middle East - after the accident.
