NIMH Report: 2023 Marks Bulgaria's Warmest Year Since 1930
National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) Reports: Bulgaria Experienced Its Hottest Year Since 1930 in 2023
Weather authorities have issued a Code Yellow alert for most of eastern Bulgaria and several central regions.
Thermometers will hit 35-37 degrees Celsius in some parts of the country.
The regions concerned are Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Targovishte, Razgrad, Silistra, Shumen, Dobrich, Varna, Burgas, Yambol, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, and Plovdiv.
The National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) has already placed most of these under the so-called "Red Index", which shows high risk of wildfires.
Separately, there will be a risk of hailstorms in some Western Bulgarian areas in the afternoon. Temperatures in this part of the country, however, will be somewhat lower, between 28 and 30 degrees.
