Bulgaria: Hundreds of Fires Broke Out across Bulgaria Since Sunday File photo, BGNES

More than 320 fire-related incients have been reported throughout Bulgaria amid a peak of heat wave that began over the weekend, authorities say.

Thirty-two blazes broke out in the first few hours of August 01, Monday, alone, according to the Interior Ministry.

Southern Bulgaria has been much affected, firefighters still trying to deal with flames near several villages in the region of Haskovo. The municipality of Madzharovo has been particularly hit by wildfires, with a state of emergency declared until the flames are completely extinguished.

A fire has been put out in the village of Buchino, Blagoevrad region (southwestern Bulgaria) according to reports of Focus News Agency.

In another southern village, Boyantsi (Asenovgrad region), fodder, crops and equipment used by farmers have been ravaged by the blaze.

Firefighters have managed to also put out several forest fires raging in the Black Sea region of Varna in northeastern Bulgaria.
