Bulgaria and the United States have agreed to a "more active" exchange of information between their security and counter-terrorism services, the country's Interior Ministry says.

The step has been taken as Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova has met FBI head James Comey while on a visit to the US.

Bachvarova is also scheduled to meet Chuck Rosenberg, the Acting Administrator of the country's anti-drug smuggling agency DEA, and Justin Siberell, who is Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism with the State Department.

Her conversations are focused on coordinating action against terrorism, illegal migration, and drug trade, the ministry says.
