Shocker: Bulgaria Drops from UK Tourists' Cheapest Summer Spots List
In an unexpected turn, Bulgaria and Turkey have been notably absent from the list of the ten cheapest European summer destinations for British tourists
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has expressed his concern about the "escalation of revanchism and the spiral of violence" emerging in Turkey in the aftermath of the failed military coup attempt.
On Facebook, Borisov has called on Turkey to hold on to the rule of law and only seek the truth about what happened by using judicial means.
"Violence breeds violence. You cannot achieve peace through war and dead people," the Prime Minister has also said.
"I hope these horrifying events in Turkey, which claimed hundreds of innocent lives, to serve as an example for what we should be wary of, and the answer to [the coup attempt] should be lawful, democratic and with observance of all human rights."
Borisov's words come after thousands were arrested, including soldiers and magistrates, and thousands of judges were summarily dismissed in relation to the attempted coup.
Turkish officials now estimate the death toll to be 290, 100 of those killed allegedly having been involved in the coup.
State-run Anadolu Agency quotes Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying:
"We will continue to cleanse the state institutions of all these viruses... This virus, like a cancer, has spread throughout the state apparatus. We have informed all relevant authorities."
